Including Georgian-spiced dips, some impeccably fried chicken, and chef Paul Toussaint’s pan-Caribbean takeout for two More often than not, tipsters, readers, friends and family of Eater have one question: Where should I eat right now? That’s where the Eater Heatmap has customarily come into play, highlighting the spots crowds are flocking to at the moment, or just newcomers showing particular promise. We’ve held off on updating this list since March, after the Quebec government ordered all restaurants in the province to close their doors.
After reopening their dining rooms and terraces for a short summer spree, Montreal’s restaurants were forced to wind down their operations once more on October 1, and refocus their efforts on takeout. Though dining rooms remain closed, we’ve decided to bring back this map (with a temporary takeout focus) to highlight those places who’ve either courageously set up shop during the pandemic or shortly prior, adapted their shiny new idea so quickly after putting it out into the world.
