A Terrazzo-Clad Taqueria and Tequila Bar Opens in the Hilton on Décarie
Plus, lunchtime just got more interesting on Chabanel and a homey new bistro from the folks behind Anticafé CÔTE-DES-NEIGES — After drawing attention for its new Italian brasserie Blandino, the new Hilton Garden Inn on Décarie is now welcoming another exciting food option on-site: Pancho. Open as of today, the fresh new taqueria and tequila bar serves an array of traditional taco options (carnitas, baja, al pastor), plus a few creative spins — there are cheeseburger, BLT, and pastrami tacos. Otherwise the menu, devised by Christopher Ranco (also at sibling restaurant Blandino), features esquites, ceviche, a wild mushroom quesadilla, blue crab tostada, and a pair of mole dishes. The terrazzo-clad space is the work of Atelier Zébulon Perron (also behind next door Blandino, Gentile Pizza Parlour, and Marcus).
Pancho is open Thursday to Saturday, from 6 p.m. to closing, at 6939 Décarie.

GARMENT DISTRICT — Chabanel Street workers have a new breakfast and lunch option in the area, and it comes from the folks that run 10-year-old Little Italy restaurant Pastaga. Daytime brasserie Chabanelle opened October 11, initially just for takeout. They’re serving an eclectic mix, including what they are calling a “non-gendered croque” sandwich with mushrooms and cheddar, banh mi, poke bowls, and gravlax bagels. Once renovations are complete in the space, diners will be able to eat indoors, with hours prolonged to host 5 à 7s. Further down the line, a pizza counter will also be incorporated. Read more here.
Chabanelle is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 315 Chabanel West.
DOWNTOWN — The founders of co-working space Anticafé, near Place-des-Arts, have opened up a homey new bistro in the same building. 5 Senses is serving up simple, unfussy foods, like soups, salads, paninis, smoothies, and scones, and promises to keep things affordable.
5 Senses is open at 292 rue St Catherine West.
POINTE-SAINT-CHARLES — A new café and grocery shop called Lovina has landed on the ground floor of a Saint-Patrick Street condo building. It’s serving up Barista coffee, Sloane tea, and baked goods from L’Amour du Pain in a bright white space.
Lovina is open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 2301 rue Saint-Patrick, suite 7.
